Deepening Roots in Hubei: Establishing a New Cold Chain Hub in Central China to Drive Industrial Upgrading

Hubei’s partnership with Yuhu Group Hong Kong began in 2021 when Wang Zhonglin, then member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Wuhan Municipal Committee, now secretary of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, extended an invitation for collaboration and held talks with Mr. Huang Xiangmo. In May of the same year, the two parties formally signed a cooperation agreement, designating Wuhan as the location for Yuhu Cold Chain’s regional hub in Central China. In 2023, an urban distribution centre for the region was established in Xiangyang. As the first operational regional hub in Central China and the third nationwide within Yuhu Cold Chain’s physical trading and fulfillment network, the Yuhu Cold Chain (Wuhan) Trading Centre has been selected as a member of the National Trade-Service Logistics Hub and included among Wuhan’s first batch of “dual-use for normal and emergency” public infrastructure facilities. Leveraging Wuhan’s prominent regional advantages, the center plays a crucial strategic role in supporting Yuhu Cold Chain’s nationwide network development. From the park, cold chain food products can achieve “same-day delivery within Hubei Province and nationwide delivery within 24 hours.”

Zhong Huihong, President of Yuhu Cold Chain
Zhong Huihong, President of Yuhu Cold Chain, stated in an interview that the Wuhan Trading Centre, serving as the core hub of Yuhu Cold Chain’s strategic layout in Central China, is positioned to function as a regional hub for global cold chain food trade. Moving forward, the center will leverage internationally standardized hardware infrastructure to ensure the quality and safety of agricultural products throughout the entire supply chain. Furthermore, Yuhu Cold Chain has developed comprehensive, integrated supply chain empowerment services for its merchants. Through online trading platforms such as “iYuhu,” the company provides end-to-end services including smart warehousing, centralized trading, supply chain finance, customs declaration and inspection, frozen product auctions, and e-commerce solutions. These services are designed to help merchants reduce costs, improve efficiency, and expand their market reach, thereby driving the upgrade of the cold chain industry in Central China and enhancing supply chain resilience. The trading centre features eight high-standard cold storage facilities capable of maintaining full temperature ranges from -60°C to ambient temperature, meeting the ultra-low temperature storage requirements for high-end products such as tuna. Additionally, by implementing an automated cold chain storage and logistics system integrating WMS (Warehouse Management System) and TMS (Transportation Management System), the center ensures an unbroken cold chain and end-to-end traceability of goods, effectively supporting merchants in achieving greater operational efficiency and cost reduction.
On the logistics front, the Yuhu Cold Chain (Wuhan) Trading Centre has established 16 major logistics lines, covering over 200 delivery points within Hubei Province, 104 delivery points outside the province, and 165 sub-districts in Wuhan’s urban distribution network. This creates a modern cold chain logistics system achieving “comprehensive coverage within the province and strong outreach across Central China.” Through a combination of self-operated logistics capacity and ecosystem collaboration, the centre guarantees highly efficient, end-to-end distribution. Upon full operation, the Trading Centre is projected to achieve an annual frozen product transaction volume of 1 million tons, with an annual transaction value exceeding RMB 20 billion. Moving forward, leveraging Yuhu Cold Chain’s global resource network, the Centre will introduce premium international food products to consumers in Central China, while also facilitating the distribution of Hubei’s characteristic agricultural products to domestic and global markets.
First Central China Food Procurement Festival Makes a Splash in Region
Yuhu Cold Chain's distinctive OMO business model continues to empower upstream and downstream partners by providing a robust transaction platform that effectively matches buyers with sellers.

The event gathered over 100 featured merchants from among the Centre’s tenants at a vibrant food fair, drawing buyers, wholesalers, processors, and food service supply chain providers from across Central China who converged to explore collaborations and participate in the grand event. On the first day alone, more than a hundred merchants successfully established procurement-sales channels, achieving an initial transaction volume of 3,000 tonnes.
In addition, the opening ceremony was accompanied by a supply-demand matchmaking event, focusing on the core needs of B-end buyers and park merchants. The event provided “one-on-one” matching services to facilitate efficient cooperation between both parties. Moving forward, the Trading Centre will continue to leverage its platform advantages to help merchants explore B-end resources and expand their business, thereby further strengthening the synergistic development of the upstream and downstream industry chains. Shao Xuanwu, Chairman of Xianmeida, a merchant within the Trading Centre, stated that Yuhu Cold Chain’s large-scale operational network, mature full-chain supporting services, and widely recognized brand influence can effectively help his company broaden its customer base and reduce operational risks. He noted that Yuhu Cold Chain’s services in supply chain finance and logistics have already provided significant support for the company’s development.
The merchants entering the Wuhan Trading Centre include not only distributors, traders, and importers deeply rooted in Central China but also established partners who have previously operated in Yuhu Cold Chain's Guangzhou and Chengdu facilities. Among them is Qiu Zhiming, General Manager of Yuying Chinese Cuisine Supply Chain, whose company entered the Guangzhou Trading Centre in 2024 and has now signed with the Wuhan facility, formally expanding its business into Central China. Yuying specializes in high-end seafood ingredients that require extremely precise temperature control and strict storage conditions. "We have full confidence in Yuhu Cold Chain's facilities and services," Qiu stated. "Their ultra-low temperature deep-freeze storage and exceptional end-to-end temperature management have eliminated my concerns about broken cold chains. I am committed to following their expansion strategy to further develop our presence in the Central China market."

During the event, the distinctive “Starting at One Yuan” auction session attracted active participation from numerous attendees. Over 500 invited buyers and guests were present, enthusiastically engaging in the bidding, which ultimately achieved a 100% transaction rate and an average product premium exceeding 30%. This outcome clearly demonstrates the exceptional capability of Yuhu Cold Chain's specialized auction services in facilitating transactions.
The Central China Food Procurement Festival has yielded significant results, successfully establishing an efficient platform for cold chain food merchants and buyers while promoting industry exchange and cooperation. Looking ahead, as the Yuhu Cold Chain (Wuhan) Trading Centre continues to develop, it is poised to further generate new opportunities and possibilities for the high-quality development of the regional cold chain industry, the refinement of upstream and downstream supply chain systems, and the enhancement of both domestic and international trade circulation.
